TOKYO GHOUL!

Hello beautiful people, how is your Sunday? What new movies or series have you seen? Today I am going to tell you about an anime that I really liked.

Tokyo Ghoul is a Japanese animation series based on the self-titled manga created by Sui Ishida serialized in seinen Young Jump magazine, with weekly delivery since September 2011. Compiled in 14 volumes. The series features four seasons, each made up of twelve episodes.

SYNOPSIS:

It is a horror production with explicit violence and a supernatural setting that presents a city in Tokyo in which innocent people die at the hands of "ghouls", mysterious creatures who feed on human flesh. The protagonist is Kaneki Ken, a young current who fortuitously survives the attack of a ghoul, however, to get ahead, the organs of the ghoul of which he was a victim were transplanted. Therefore, his life changes radically as he becomes a hybrid between human and ghoul.

SEASONS:

Tokyo Ghoul: Kaneki becomes a half Ghoul and half Human, from now on he must live hiding from humans with no one to turn to. He meets some Ghouls who work in a cafeteria and finds out that they survive on coffee, since coffee is the only taste that both share. During the course of the story Kaneki will meet new companions and see the dark side of both humanity and the Ghouls.
Tokyo Ghoul √A: This second season would have an alternative story to the manga, and it would not be an adaptation of it. This Kaneki, oddly enough, is much more peaceful and intelligent than his manga counterpart. Although he has the same goal of defending his loved ones, instead of eradicating them, this Kaneki does not want to kill anyone. So we have a clear message on which to build the work: Unification or, to put it another way, we are all the same. Regardless of what we eat, for everything else, we all feel the same.
Tokyo Ghoul: re Is a sequel that started in 2018 and was established two years after the events of the original series. The sequel follows GCC member Haise Sasaki and leader of a special squad of investigators who have implanted the GCC's special weapon, the Quinque, into their bodies and have essentially become half ghoul. However, the problem is that Haise is actually Ken Kaneki from the original series who suffers from amnesia. This was divided into two seasons and is the final arc of the masterful manga.
CHARACTERS:
  • Ken Kaneki: He is the main character in the anime, later known by the nickname of Patch, Gantai and finally as Mukade Centipede. As someone who is now half ghoul and half human, he struggles to keep his ghoul identity secret, being permanently in conflict with it, while at the same time trying to continue living as a normal human.
  • Touka Kirishima: She is a ghoul, student, and waitress at Anteiku. During hunting she wears a rabbit mask. Her violent attitude comes from having to live a double life. As a human being, she is seen as a normal girl, attends school with normal friends and is a waitress in a cafeteria. As a ghoul, she reveals a harsher, more reckless personality filled with hatred by GCC investigators.
  • Kuzen Yoshimura: He is a Ghoul and the manager of the Anteiku Cafeteria. He tries to help every ghoul, especially those who cannot hunt on their own. He takes Ken kaneki and tries to help him survive being a Ghoul.
  • Hinami Fueguchi: She is a ghoul girl whose parents were killed by ghouls investigators. Along with Touka, they defeated Investigator Madou. Hinami later enters Kaneki's group, called Anti-aogiri. After the GCC attack on Anteiku, she joins Aogiri.
  • Ayato Kirishima: He is the younger brother of Tōuka Kirishima. He was raised with his sister in District 20 but, at some point, disappeared. He is currently a member of the Aogiri Tree. It is known as "Black Rabbit".
  • Kotaro Amon: He is a Level 1 Ghouls Investigator. His previous partner was Kureo Mado. Due to a personal experience as an orphan during his childhood, Amon has concluded that this world is wrong, so he has done his duty to change the world. Because he thinks that the Ghouls are the ones ruining the world, he sees the eradication of all the ghouls as a way to repair it.
  • Hideyoshi Nagachika: He is Kaneki's best friend since they were children, he cares about him a lot and is very optimistic, he has observer skills and when he discovers that his friend is a monster instead of walking away he covers it up , although the latter does not find out if not until the end of the story that his best friend knew the truth about him.
OVAS:

Tokyo Ghoul Jack: It is the spin-off Tokyo Ghoul, the story is focused on the past of the character Kishou Arima, who goes to a high school by day and at night is a Ghoul Investigator who solves the problems of District 13.

Tokyo Ghoul Pinto: It is the second OVA of the Tokyo Ghoul anime, based on the third chapter of Tokyo Ghoul: Hibi. As a prequel, it tells the events of when Shuu Tsukiyama and Chie Mori met at the institute. It was adapted by Pierrot Studies
I recommend reading the manga as well as watching the anime.

I leave the link for you to enjoy it.

XOXO Li.

TOP 10 ANIMES TO GET STARTED

If you have already been bitten by the curiosity animal and you want to start this roller coaster that is Anime but there are so many that you do not know where to start, I am going to leave you what for me is the perfect top ten for beginners.

#10 SAMURAI X

If you are one of those who like history, swordsmen, and action, you have this excellent story set in the Meiji era in Japan, it is based on the manga of the creator Nobuhiro Watsuki, has 95 chapters, two films, and seven OVAS. Personally, I love this story, having a look at ancient Japan, you can see how the main character tries to redeem himself for the actions committed in his past.

#9 NEON GENESIS EVANGELION

Are you a fan of the futuristic cyberpunk? or the constant fight for life? If so you can not stop seeing this masterpiece from the Gainax studio, although at first, it seems just a simple robot fight with monsters in Tokyo, I can assure you that it is a work full of symbolism and characters full of nuances and layers that hide their true motivations. It has 26 episodes and 5 movies (the latter being a tetralogy)

#8 COWBOY BEBOP

These are the futuristic adventures of a bounty hunter and his companions in the search for criminals, it is developed by the Sunrise studio and Bandai Visual. Once again we immerse ourselves in the futuristic vision of Japan with characters that maintain tortuous relationships which lead to not-so-conventional decisions. It has 26 episodes

#7 FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST

This world has a style similar to the time after the European Industrial Revolution. We are introduced to alchemy, which is one of the most advanced scientific techniques known to man. The story focuses on brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, who want to restore their bodies through the philosopher's stone after a failed attempt to resuscitate their mother through alchemy. This first series has fifty-one episodes, then we have a second series called Fullmetal Alchemist: brotherhood that has sixty-four episodes; plus three movies.

#6 DEATH NOTE

The story centers on Light Yagami, a high school student who one day when finding a notebook with supernatural powers called "Death Note", decides that he can take justice on his own. This is an anime that shows how easy the so-called "Justice" can be misrepresented and how quickly you can feel the adrenaline of power in your veins. It has thirty-seven episodes and four movies.

#5 ATTACK ON THE TITANS

The plot revolves around Eren Jaeger who, together with his childhood friends, decides to join the army with the aim of avenging the death of his mother and the destruction of his city at the hands of humanoid beings called Titans. It has fifty-nine episodes divided into three seasons with a fourth one in the process of launching and five OVAS.

#4 TOKYO GHOUL

What would you do if one day you lose all contact with reality and enter a world that you did not think existed? This anime throws you into fiction, with supernatural beings called ghouls who live on human flesh, with a young man named Kaneki who abruptly and by a bad choice will face his new life as a half-ghoul, who will see the dark side not only from humanity but also from the ghouls. It has three seasons, the last being divided into two parts, and two OVAS.

#3 ANOTHER

Terror, blood, and suspense, all wrapped up in this little anime based on Yukito Ayatsuji's light novel, it all starts when young Sakakibara is transferred to the North Yomiyama school, ending up in a class that is far from normal. Horrible deaths and Constant fear lurk the students, who believe they are caught in a curse that started 23 years ago when one of the students died. Or at least that was what was thought ... It is a short anime with only twelve episodes but with very strong images so if you have a weak stomach I recommend you skip this step.

#2 PSYCHO-PASS

Psycho-Pass is ideal for those who enjoy science fiction stories, with a dense, complex plot and quite stylish characters, it addresses very interesting questions about the human psyche and reflections on the meaning of good and evil. If you enjoyed Minority Report, you are going to love this anime in which you cannot have any criminal thought crossing your head without being punished even without committing it, it has twenty-two episodes.

#1 WOLF’S RAIN

Finally but not least this is an anime that combines science fiction, Indian traditions, adventure, action, fighting, wolves, humans, mysticism, and drama. This story focuses on the strong instinct and the proclaimed faith that a being can have to achieve what they want in a world where decadence reigns. It has twenty-six episodes and was aired by the Bones studio.

I hope this top 10 helps you and that you like each one of them. Tell me if you have seen any of them and how are yours thought on the plot.

XOXO Li
